SAVANNAH, GA – August 6, 2016 Those who support and enjoy the Ogeechee River as a source of recreation, income and local pride will soon have a chance to catch up on matters relating to the region’s most prized natural resource.
Ogeechee Riverkeeper has scheduled its annual meeting for 4-7 p.m. Saturday, August 20 at Love’s Seafood Restaurant. The popular local eatery, a ‘River’ level corporate sponsor of the non-profit organization and longtime supporter of the waterway itself, is located at 6817 Chief O.F. Love Road in Savannah with stunning views of the Ogeechee River. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and children 12 and under are $5.00, which includes heavy appetizers, music, awards ceremony and non-alcoholic beverages. A cash bar will be available.
After attendees have been brought up to speed on the progress and development of the river and the organization, including news on the Palmetto Pipeline, quality of the river water and legislative issues, ORK will recognize its Volunteer of the Year, Monitor of the Year, Business of the Year and Education Partner of the Year
“Our 2015 meeting was extremely successful and well attended and we are really looking forward to our upcoming 2016 meeting and expecting this to be even bigger. It’s important that Ogeechee Riverkeeper preserves the strength of our ties to community supporters and advocates. We want to keep them in the loop at all times.” Riverkeeper Emily Markesteyn said.
Markus with Waits & Co. will provide live musical entertainment for the event. Proceeds benefit the Ogeechee Riverkeeper, a 501(c) (3) whose mission includes river preservation work, advocacy efforts and outreach.
