The Ogeechee River Amateur Photo Contest
Organized by the Ogeechee Riverkeeper, this photo contest is a local project open to amateurs 12 and older. It will be held February 8 through April 1, 2010. Contest winners will have an opportunity to showcase their work in local art galleries and libraries, as well as receiving recognition in Ogeechee Riverkeeper publications.
Ogeechee Riverkeeper strives to connect people and their rivers. This photo contest is a way for amateur photographers to help us connect our rivers and our way of life. We will showcase these photos and unite people and nature by displaying them in galleries within the Ogeechee River Basin.
This contest sets out to reward you for your photography skills. We ask that you send in a digital or scanned photograph of any location within the Ogeechee River watershed (see map). These pictures should feature rivers, streams, creeks or the coast. Your photos can include people, places or wildlife.
If you think about your local swimming hole, favorite fishing spot, your hometown or some of your family’s favorite spots to visit, you're sure to find some good subjects for your pictures. Your picture will be judged on both technical quality (sharpness, exposure, etc.) and for the relationship between the landscape and water.
Take the best picture:
• Locate the environment you wish to photograph.
• Take several pictures with different perspectives, different backgrounds, lighting, etc.
• Choose the photograph you think best reflects the objective of the contest.
How to enter:
- Fill out the entry form.
- Upload your photograph to our website (remember you can enter only 3 photos per photographer)
- Attend the Wild and Scenic Film Festival on April 8 for announcement of contest winners. Tickets on Sale Now! Click here to purchase.
Selection process
• All of the pictures uploaded to the Ogeechee Riverkeeper website photo contest page, provided they conform to the theme of the contest and are considered appropriate, will be evaluated by a team of local artist and published.
• The winner will be announced on April 8 at The Averitt Center for the Arts in Statesboro, Georgia from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Tickets on Sale Now! Click here to purchase.
