June is membership month and ORK is kicking off the celebration with an Early Bird event!
Ogeechee Riverkeeper and Savannah Riverkeeper members can join a guided morning birding walk and curated wildlife tour at Oatland Island Wildlife Center.
Co-led by Ogeechee Riverkeeper Damon Mullis, and Oatland Island nature guide Delaney, this 2-hour tour will take members into the heart of the maritime forest nestled just outside Savannah. On the trail, members may identify a variety of bird species, such as the Bald Eagle and handsome Green Heron, along with others. A diverse, 360 view of plants and wildlife will allow ORK members to fully immerse themselves in this subtropical habitat. Cool down with an optional ice cream treat at the end of the walk, available from Birdie Lu’s fun and retro ice cream truck.
Gear/Equipment: Participants should wear shoes and clothing suitable for a two hour walking trip. Bring your own binoculars. Water provided by Riverkeeper.
Please note: this event has limited availability. Ice cream is an additional option to the event and the cost is not covered by Ogeechee Riverkeeper.
This event is only available to members of Ogeechee Riverkeeper or Savannah Riverkeeper. Oatland Island’s Early Bird nature walk is free to members, but donations are optional. Advanced registration is required.
To become an ORK member, visit our donation page. Memberships are $50 (individual) or $75 (household) and benefits last a full year. Perks include members-only events, discounted merchandise, first chance to register for events, and more.
